Computer Science Artificial Intelligence Undergraduate study
Graduates wishing to specialise in robotics are well placed to pursue careers in mobile communications and gaming systems. Just one of the ways we do this is by using ‘DMU Replay’ – a technology providing all students with anytime access to audio and/or visual material of lectures. This means students can revise taught material in a way that suits them best, whether it’s replaying a recording of a class or adapting written material shared in class using specialist software.
Is AI a science or math?
As previously mentioned, AI is essentially a lot of math, consisting of algorithms, calculations, and other types of data.
We may accept your English language grade from the Austrian Matura/Reifeprüfung if you achieved 2/5 (gut) in English (both written and oral examinations). UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) is a UK organisation responsible for managing applications to university and college. At Birmingham we ensure that fears about finance do not constrain prospective students from considering university and that excellence is rewarded. This Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science course is a three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, we also offer a four-year with a year in industry BSc degree version too. We award scholarships and grants for travel, academic excellence, or to students from under-represented backgrounds.
Computer Science with Year in Industry BSc Hons
Offers will be made on the individual Diploma Course subject(s) and the career-related study qualification. Where there is a subject pre-requisite(s), applicants will be required to study the subject(s) at Higher Level in the artificial intelligence engineer degree Diploma course subject and/or take a specified unit in the career-related study qualification. An AI engineer designs and develops advanced AI software and individual roles vary depending on your area of specialisation.
You can specialise in areas including computer security, web development and mobile apps, robotics and machine learning, speech and language technology, or 3D graphics and virtual reality. This module introduces the Software Engineering concepts that are needed to develop software systems that can meet basic functional requirements within a given problem domain. It covers the main steps in the process of developing such systems, from requirements analysis through to their implementation and testing. A major part of the module involves students working in teams to develop a web-based software system, which gives practical experience in teamwork and managing software projects and their products. With these exciting developments in mind, we’ve designed our MSc Artificial Intelligence course to prepare graduates for AI roles, and to help current technology and business professionals build new knowledge and skills to apply in their roles.
Where you will study
In any society that develops to the point at which they can do enough of that without us, there may need to be a reappraisal of the balance between labour and leisure. Depending on the will of politicians, industry and the people, ideas like universal basic income could yet become a reality. However, as things stand, AI tools and systems still require development and oversight from experts. If anyone is well placed to avoid being overtaken by an artificially intelligent system, it is the person whose job it is to look after it. Therefore, a degree in AI is a safe option if you are concerned about the coming wave of all-powerful robots. Shape your future with an AI degree, and you could end up shaping the future of the world.
